Welcome to The Antinatalist Film Festival!

The Antinatalist Film Festival is a historic, first-of-its-kind event, founded by Antinatalism International, (ANI) a collective dedicated to the advancement of the philosophy of Antinatalism! Art, particularly video making, has been an important tool for Antinatalist activism, and we felt it was high time to showcase some of that talent in our community, as well as get others involved who might be from a different mindset, but perhaps find the subject matter artistically inspiring and want to respond creatively! This first year of the festival exists exclusively as an online screening event, however, we hope that in future years, the event can take place live and in person! We hope you enjoy this first year of The Antinatalist Film Festival, thank you for watching, and that you to all of our incredible Antinatalist filmmakers for making it possible!

“It was when I was about 10 years old.
I can’t forget watching the video of Jesus being tortured.
It was totally cruelty.
Jesus said to Judas
“It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
I saw the mirror in his eyes.
It wasn’t hatred, but sympathy and empathy.

it’s just an event on the screen for contemporaries
but I earnestly internalize it.
After watching it, I conceived Jesus was also a person who should not have been born.

I felt sorry for Jesus.
He was born to sacrifice for others.
He had never lived for himself.
And he died for others.
The meat.

Religious people may blame me for this story.
But I love Jesus
And I console Jesus more than anyone else.
They just exploit Jesus.
I want to ask if they have ever truly tried to console Jesus, being in Jesus’s shoes.

Christianity is the biggest religion on earth.
So Christianity make tons of people born and died
I was born and raised by Christianity too.
I grew up to be a just ingenuous Christian.
But after I became an adult, I was so embarrassed.
“Why was I born?”
“What should I live for?”
I agonized about these questions all day long.
I was a poor doomed man hanging from a steep cliff.
I heard the answer from clerics, but I couldn’t accept.
They couldn’t convince me.
Even though I fully believed in Christianity, I still suffer from this angst.
I suffered from the severe gravity.
So I started to find the answer by myself.
And finally, I found the answer.

It was not difficult to find the answer
But still the angst didn’t disappear.

Judas was better never to have been
Jesus was better never to have been
And
Everyone was better never to have been

……
……
……

So what?
So what?
What about us
who were already born?
I started slipping again.
I craved everything distract me
I grabbed the weak branches that popped out and started climbing the cliff.
I had hope that there would be an end to the cliff.
But I couldn’t find any clue of the end.
So I asked the cliff
“is there an end to you?”
But there was no answer.
Soon, I noticed it was a false hope.
So I stopped climbing.
And I turned my head and looked around.
Nothing special
Then I looked down.
My origin
The reason of my life
Jesus
He was there.
He was weeping sorrowfully.
I listened Jesus’s life stoy again.
Then I began to get excited.
I have started to make this without the cognition that I have to this.
Yes
It was a jesus’s request
It was a jesus’s hope
It was a jesus’s wish
It was a jesus’s prayer
It was a jesus’s desire
It was a jesus’s drive

I thought while drawing.
People who were born because of Jesus
People who died because of Jesus
There, I stuffed them who were looking at me looking at them.
They were afraid of living people
They were shy
So I hid them in pale colors.

I wanted to give the creator the same absurdness that the creator gave to us.
It wasn’t easy at all.
There were lots of sabotages.
But I didn’t give up.
Million times bent
But never break
In the end,
I completed it!!!
I accomplished Jesus’s revenge.
And I found the way how I should live
Jesus gave me the present.

I realized where I am.
I let go of my hand and stood up with my knees stretched out.
It was not a cliff
It was a just land.
A flat land
Still it’s the same that there’s no end.
But, at least, I was able to get away from the burden of gravity and got more comfortable.”
